Hey guys. I am a second year advisor, I have a series 65 and life & Health license. I work for a small Wealth Management firm in the northeast. This is my 2nd full year in the financial industry and i'm trying to find ways to get in front of people and set up meetings. Right now we mainly use annuities to solve for income shortfalls and 3rd party money managers for our AUM.

For 2017 I'm planning on door knocking and cold calling. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

There are hundreds of prospecting threads here. The key is getting in front of as many people as possible on a consistent basis. It does not matter how.

Door knocking and cold calling only require sweat equity so unless you have dollars to pour into marketing there is your answer.

I know a guy in your area(literally) who does well with seminars/workshops.

Pick the method you are least likely to avoid and work it consistently.

Small world Chief,

I work for.... I'm the first sub advisor they've hired and I'm looking for ways to market myself. We do dinner seminars right now but the response from the mailers we send are terrible.

I found this forum and thought it'd be a good place to find some door knocking/cold calling scripts/tactics. Or really any advice at all for that matter.

ceparks,  lots of good guys on here and  a few stalkers.  I would delete your screenname and come back in a few days with a new one.  Be careful using real names.  Just friendly advice.

I wouldn't use any real data or real area of your practice is located - just my opinion.

I edited personal information out of your posts and removed your real name and location (I'm a Mod).

When you say the response to your mailers is "terrible" what do you mean by that?  Because 2% response rate would be amazing. 1% would be just fine.  And .50% would still be workable, especially if you're selling annuities and wrap accounts.
My posts are for abrasive entertainment only. Nothing posted is investment, legal, tax or any type of advice, nor is anything mentioned true or even based on real events. Posts are complete fiction.

Yep 0.5% response to mailers is consistent in my opinion. If you're not getting that, you may be doing something wrong. 5k mailers will get you 20-25 prospects in a room and most will be qualified if you mail to the right areas

I couldn't agree with this more, you will either have more money than time and you will either buy leads or commit to marketing to do the prospecting for you, or you will have more time than money - which means you are doing both the prospecting and selling.

For new agents looking to door knock like the EJ's do, I was able to put together a 50 page guide (free - no sign up required) on Door to Door sales. We featured 30 tips and a ton of scripts from financial professionals who use this lost art form of a prospecting method.

I hope you guys don't mind me dropping a link to it, I'd like some feedback from the other advisors on here.
