Wouldn't DFW be considered the south?

Ahh, you must not be from the south if you think Texas is part of the south.

Take it from a southerner. The south is Louisiana to Virginia along the gulf and east coasts and a few states just north of that (Georgia, etc).

Texas is the Southwest. Oklahoma is not part of the south as an example. The mentality is very different in Mississippi or Louisiana than it is in Texas. And, despite what the media portrays, there are many families in those states that are very wealthy.

Correction.  You need to exclude Florida from the south (or at least south of the panhandle).

Our theory was that jones works well just outside the metro areas and in the south where people are more laid back..

I agree with that. My old EJ region, which was right next to Chiefs region, has 0 300k producers with less than 10 years experience. The only guys making a living opened up 10-15 years ago and since then the population of the area has probably tripled. They hit it at the right time when there was little competition, no wires, no banks.

Ms. broker, have you been given your office yet?

I have just been offered a position with Jones and I am very skeptical about the doorknocking approach. I'm glad to see that you are having some success with it.

Floor plans are being drawn up as we speak. :) Would've been sooner but I started dragging my feet on the office search.

I have actually had a pretty decent amount of success with it, so I can't knock it. (pun intended)

Good luck in whatever decision you make. :)

You'd either hate or love Dallas then. The atmosphere here is more Chicago than any other major city.

It's not just oil. Texas has alot of money from other places. DFW is home to more fortune 500 corporate headquarters than all but 3 cities.

I'm from Louisiana though. I just live in Dallas.

If you're talking about the one I think you are, he has bought a decent chunk of a bond from me but that's all I've got from him. He also referred a relative to me for a decent (for me)  sized trust that is supposed to come in in the next month or two.

The one I'm working on tomorrow bought a stock from me 6 months ago. For some reason I never could pin him down on this large account until now. It hasn't closed yet.

The one from Saturday was a referral. Her family member who referred her to me transferred their accounts on the first doorknock. I've been working on the referral for about a month and a half.

Yeah...not just oil.
Texas is also the largest producer of manufactured goods in the US.
Although, I think they also lead the nation in closet homosexuals.

You know where you bought that jacket, and it damn sure wasn't in the men's store.

I love free speech...even when it is in the form of obscenities directed at me.

And, just for those who don't know...the guy in the picture, wearing a delicate lace and tassled jacket, is Senator John Cornyn, representative for the state of Texas.

I bet that guy has the most AWESOME collection of scented candles!!!
