Nope, not in the shortest time possible. For anonymity, I can't say why I didn't, but I still should fairly quickly.

I'll elaborate a bit. I ended up not closing all of the 450k in time.

And I ended up telling a 200k account that was transferring in that I did not want to work with them. (Thank goodness I did, too. Called their old broker today because of something I got in the mail. She tells me, "yeah, you really dodged a bullet. Nothing but a headache.")

Good work in telling an account of that size to get bit. That takes guts at Jones especially when you are trying to hit segments and trips.

Thanks! It was definitely tough, but it was the right decision.

So what.  There are 50+ other advisors within 3 FEET of my desk.  Who cares.  The world is your oyster!  Deal with it...and move on.  There are plenty of potential clients out there.

LOL Yes, unless EDJ is like the wires where you cannot call existing clients, even if they have 2k account with the call in area.

You can spend all your time with self-talk about how this can't be done or you can set out to do it, ignoring the odds.

There are probably 45-50 advisors within 1 mile of my office - Jones (3 FA's), MSSB (2 offices), Merrill, WFA, AMP, 2 solo RIA's.

I know almost all of them, either personally or casually. 75% of them don't do any active prospecting (almost half are over age 55).

Within 5 miles of my office there are more than 300, probably around 400, FAs. Most of them are useless, lazy, ignorant pricks. Which makes me happy
