Hello all. I am new to this forum and look forward to reading what you all have to say. I have been in the business for a few years but mostly doing a lot of annuities. I have my series 65 and insurance licenses. I am in the process of finding a new job, I have been interviewing with Raymond James, RBC, and Edward jones. If anyone has insight about any of those companies for me I would really appreciate it.   I am starting over as I go into my new role, I have no book and because I don't have my 7 and 66, that's how these companies work. I'm looking forward to any responses and advice you all can provide to me. Thanks in advance

Raymond James is the best of the three.
Welcome.

Only Edward Jones cares about clients.

Why don't you find an insurance-friendly RIA, get appointed with the insurance companies, and keep doing what you're doing?

There are a few that you may want to look into:
- www.fanria.com; www.pomplanning.net; www.brookstonecm.com are the top 3 that come to mind right now.  I'm sure there are others.

Unless you need income right now (make sure you compare offers from where ever you're interviewing), I think that's the best way to go.

I have thought about doing that but part of me wants to get more formal training. I also have young kids so not having any income for a bit scares me. I do appreciate the information though as part of me knows you are right.

To be serious, if you need a salary look at Jones. They're doing five year salaries now. Seriously stupid IMO but if you can get in on it, do it.

I just had my pine interview with Raymond James, it went very well and now he said it will be up to the branch if I'm hired in to the AMP program. Has anyone here been through it?

For those at Jones, I know Jones is build on door knocking and seems to do a bit better in smaller towns. I'm DC, any advice on working for them in a bigger city? I also am working on the business plan so any insight into that would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

It cuts in half after the first year though, and then continues to decrease at a rate based on if you receice assets, how much, etc. by midway they year 2 it's not much to boast about. Clearly better than it used to be but saying it lasts 5 years isn't exactly true

It has followed that path for 4-5 years but it never went out 5 years. Still a good deal for some.

If you are in DC proper forget Jones. That is cold calling territory and while Jones will let you do that the trainers know nothing about it. If you are out in the suburbs that might be different.

Re: smaller towns. Not any more. Jones is strong in many suburbs.
