Umm...you're a bank advisor.  Go stand in the lobby and give your business card to everyone who walks in.  Go have the branch manager print you a list of all the people in the branch with more than $100K sitting in their checking account.  Call them.

Isn't the big benefit to being a bank advisor that you really don't have to prospect?

Buy this book and (once you're eligible for the other forums) you can search my past posts for my ideas on promoting yourself in a bank environment.

Thanks, I’ll check it out.
I’m not sure the back will work out for the long term. That keep 75/80% of the commissions and give very little support.

The hardest part of this business is finding clients.  The bank is there to hand them to you.  Of course they are going to keep a large portion of the revenue.

that’s what they say, I have a few branches, 1 is pretty good with referrals the other not so much. They say i need to do my own marketing, that they don't pay for, which i have previous done at other jobs but i don't think that’s a good deal if they take 75-80% of great itma the commission. Im thinking it may be time to be looking around at other possibilities.

What are you expecting from the bank? Them to just say “here’s Mr Jones and his $1mm for you to invest and make an extra $2k a year”?

The most successful bank guys I know work the bankers, and lenders. Get to know them, and their top clients. Make their top clients your top clients. Become their friends and referable. Train tellers to look for deposit checks from certain employers that they know have good retirement plans. The successful bank advisors don’t act like they are better than anyone else in the bank, and sure as shit don’t let on to how much money they make. You should make more than the branch president. But if he knows you do, be ready for him to cut off the spigot.

Read the book DHK suggested.

If you are doing poorly at a bank, that is because of you, not the bank. Some banks are better than others, but if you can’t make it at a bank, you shouldn’t be in this business.
