I am in South Dakota and looking into the world of Financial Advising and seriously considering my CFP as well.

I came here from a forum about making it as an EJ advisor and though slightly nervous about knocking doors again(been awhile since I've done that) I also have new life after talking with friends in the industry.

I am licensed as an insurance agent, but feel like my degree in Finance is meant for more than cold calling leads.

I think you've already convinced yourself correctly that you are better than this industry because of your Finance degree. I recommend you pursue bigger and better things.

On the contrary....with my finance degree I was looking for something and feel this is it.  I love advising and helping people and that is exactly what is being done here.

By cold calling, I meant that EJ is more of a door knock approach.  Instead of cold calling insurance leads, I'd rather do more big picture for finances.  That is what I meant, but obviously not what I implied

Doesn't matter your degree or the letters after your name as a new person.  You need to be able to sell.
You can't advise if there is no one in front of you.
So, how do you expect to get in front of people if you are unwilling to doorknock or cold call?
The game is out there. Either play or get played.

Cold calling is a great way to set meetings. No one is above it.

You will always get nailed here for talking about your education or certifications because we all know: hard, awful, daily prospecting is the only way- unless you think making 50-75k is enough. If you do, then be a teacher or manager. Anyone can prospect daily for a few weeks- we are talking much longer so few make it.
