I used to use Esselte and they were great. But anyway, I don't think we can really trust a door knockers opinion on calculators.

The HP12C is for people who used to sell cars before jumping over to Ed Jones. The big dogs are given then BAII+ the first day at the Big 4.

Only CPAs would consider 4 inches "Big".

As my wife says: It's a good size and she's asian so it's not like she's expecting much to begin with.

It is a better calculator though. It doesn't require a fucking iPhone app to be used.

I just used an iPhone app to run a diagnostic on my car AND reset the check engine light (loose gas cap). Doubt your fancy calculator can do that!

AR 15 = 12C (RPN is VERY tough to unlearn and once you go there you cannot go back, more expensive)

AK 47 = BAII  (best place to start with no previous knowledge, cheaper)

Subjective.

I don't know anything about either of those guns, so I cannot relate.

...but I think you just called me and Ulairi simpletons in a roundabout way.  LOL

Dude, you can get the same data from either calculator. Its not like annualizing a cash flow is "easier"on one vs the other.

Maybe this:

Stick vs Automatic in a car.

Oh, now I understand.  Stick versus automatic.  One is for badasses that know what they're doing (stick / BA II) and one is for gigantic pussies (automatic / HP 12C).

Thanks for putting that into terms I can understand Rip!  Wink

I'm unclear how it is a better calculator.  You don't need an iPhone to use the HP12C.  At least I don't.

One of you homers said to download the iPhone app to learn how to use it. That's on you. The BAII+ is the calculator that Jesus would use. Are you telling me that Jesus is wrong?

Of course Jesus would use the BAII.  His father would use the 12C.

I think the goal was to teach CPAs and other non-humans how to use the 12C since it was going to be too hard for them, and that was the point of the iPhone app.

I have the BAII+ pro, my coworker has the 12C. From what I can tell, the BAII is better for CFA exams because it typically takes fewer keystrokes for most calculations necessary for the exam, thus less chance for computational errors.

From what I can tell in the CFA exam rooms, most people do use the BAII+.  The 12C is probably a better calculator though.

Hmm.  I always thought the point of the 12C was that it was fewer keystrokes.  If I look at the calculator comparison book, it almost always shows the computations on the exams needing fewer keystrokes for the 12C.  Interesting.  If you can squeeze fewer keystrokes out of the BAII, I'd like to know how.

How is your annual subscription going? Disapprove

What annual subscription?

Schweser puts out a "how to use the calculator on the CFA Exams" book.  I bought mine a long time ago.  But it is useful, especially if you are calculating duration, spot rates, etc.
