It is a better calculator though. It doesn't require a fucking iPhone app to be used.

I'm unclear how it is a better calculator.  You don't need an iPhone to use the HP12C.  At least I don't.

One of you homers said to download the iPhone app to learn how to use it. That's on you. The BAII+ is the calculator that Jesus would use. Are you telling me that Jesus is wrong?

Homer? I said download it for .99 to try it out douche bag - then buy it ($50) if you understand how it works. My new advice to you is stick with the BAII - I don't want a guy like you flying my equipment.

Maybe you are feeling sore for getting used as a ML prop?

At least this douche bag has already passed level I and level II. I'll be passing level III while you're still studying for level I. And I'll use my BAII+ like a boss.

Why pay $.99 when I already know the BAII+ is a better piece of equipment. I've used both.

As an aside: On Friday, I had a prospect coming in and I couldn't find my BAII+ so I ran to my car for my backup. It's such a sweet machine.

I used to think that some of the rules the CFA institute put in place were stupid. For example requiring a passport as the only valid ID. Yesterday I understood why. My exam center had approximately 40% of the Candidates that were US citizens the other 60% has passports from all over the place not just Canada, but I saw Germany, Japan, Cayman Islands, and tons of others. I assume they are all here on work Visas? I dont know why you wouldn't just take the exam in your own country otherwise.

Some countries have had people killed on their way to take the exam.

Two people were killed in South Africa a while back.  India as well.

There were going to take the test.  I don't think they were killed because they were pursuing it (at least I think that would be INSANE), but just because the area was violent.

I think for most standard calculations the 12C has fewer keystrokes but the BAII+ has a better storage system (IMO) for doing longer TVM problems.  This could be entirely apocryphal but whenever I talk to people with the 12C they complain that it lacks some of the features of the BAII+ that can be useful for some of the CFA equations.

I have used the BAII+ for 1 & 2, and will be using it for 3 and have only one complaint - when typing too quickly, it doesn't pick up some keystrokes.  I'm sure it has saved me from fat fingering some numbers and it forces me to slow down my frantic pace in problems, but it irritates me to no end on exam day (and doing practice problems) when I have to go back and retype something because I didn't press hard enough.

To be truthful it was far less difficult than I expected. I didnt read any of alts, fixed income, derivatives or portfolio management but I did take a review course. I literally didnt crack the books once. I watched Arif Irfannulahs videos (not all of them I didnt have time to do those sections I mentioned and did I did a review course as I mentioned). I am almost certain I failed but I also ak certain if I did those readings (even just via the videos) and actually did practice problems, I would have passed without a doubt. I simply was too busy to do so. I also was using a completely wrong calculator and had to relearn the TI calc the day before.

I do have at least a snowballs chance of passing (simply from things like being on this board and participating as well as the CFP which, like it or not did go over 50 percent of what was on level 1 at a minimum).

Ill be suprised if I pass but I'll let you know on results day.

You and I took two different CFA exams or two different CFP exams then.

Ethics was identical. Equity, alts, and economics were all the same from the same as the CFP study materials. (which you never did since you challenged it). CFA went deeper with fixed income and derivatives and obviosuly was heavy on FRA but those were the major differences.

Hmm... maybe the study materials have quite a bit in them then.

Interesting stuff.  I'm surprised Ethics weren't a bigger deal.  The Ethics questions are a little trickier on the CFA exams than the CFP exam (if you went for the answer that was appropriate on the CFP, you probably got it wrong on the CFA).

My 12C Calculators ENT button no longer works (Unless you jam it really hard 5 times).

I tried to take it apart but couldn't get the motherboard out without cracking it. Just ordered a new one. Sucks - should have never posted on here!!
