First post here. Former member of a few advisor message boards 6-7 yrs ago but couldn't remember my logins. Been an advisor about 10.5 yrs, went RIA in the past year, best decision our team ever made. Hopefully I can stay a little more active this time....

Welcome back.

Would you be able to share which RIA platform you chose and some feedback on those you evaluated?

Did you go Hybrid route?

We chose Fidelity. I'm not one of the primary decision makers, simply a producer, so I wasn't too privy to a lot of the minutiae behind some of the cost differentials/features of one platform vs. the other. Fidelity offered solid name recognition & at the very least clients would likely associate Fidelity w/low fees. It made the initial client conversation much easier. They paid transfer fees for all accounts we moved, put a team of guys in the office for a few wks to process ppwk as it came in, etc. Not sure if thats standard for all moves but its what we got.

We did choose a B/D also, so I guess technically we're hybrid, but really its just somewhere to house our 529's & whatever old annuities we 1035 over. Going all wrap from here on out. Our b/d f***ing sucks, as there's more paperwork involved to open a $1,000 529 than there is to open a $1,000,000 irrevocable trust Fidelity wrap account.

Did you get any transition money since you are not a decision maker?

is it common to get funds from RIA custodian beyond the payment of the transaction charges to move accounts?

At what level of AUM or revenue does one get transition "Bonus"?

Indy BD's appear to be paying 20-30% for about 500-600K production, but I am not familiar with RIA's. I just figured margins way to thin for that.
