When I left there in 2009 nobody was writing the vul, everyone was whole life.
Since the dividend has fallen over the past 17 years almost every year, combine that with the rise in iul and how it illustrates much better than whole, I imagine most northwestern guys are forced to switch over to vul to compete since nml doesn't have an iul.

Glad to see my intro post is still getting traction years later. This is the most popular I've ever been on the internet in my entire life so thanks for that folks. The rumors of my firing were greatly exaggerated.

I did leave Jones, though. Found an RIA shop who paid for my CFP and CPA licenses. I also took the advice of a poster in this thread and dug down into real estate agents and learning everything I could about their business. That's been the single best piece of advice I've ever been given in this business. Made prospecting a hell of a lot easier.

Cold call every single realtor in your area. Try to get 10-15 people a day to tell you F OFF or never call again. Read Go For No twice. Learn phone skills. Realtors don't typically have retirement plans. Learn and master the Solo 401k and how to position it over the phone to show enough value to book an in person or virtual meeting. It won't be easy. In fact it'll feel nearly impossible most the time, but keep plugging! Remember it's not what you say, it's how you say it..  The prospects can sense your inner feelings so you had better truly believe in your heart that it's their lucky day you called them. Lastly, SILENCE is your friend. GL!

Yes! I landed a few real estate clients out of pure dumb luck around the time I saw your comment and decided to go jump in with both feet into that area. It's allowed me to built a decent book in a relatively short amount of time.

I'm shocked by this because most real estate people are horrible clients. They want all their money in real estate...

This all sounds eerily familiar.  I have two left and finally have them trained.  The real problem with most in real estate is that generally didn’t succeed in their main careers so they sell real estate.  You will find a few that are solid but most are the above.
