Hi.

Previously with Merrill Lynch for four years. Took a 3 year hiatus to have a little fun. Now age 30, nearly finished with CFP coursework and planning to re-enter the business as an RIA.

Currently unlicensed, but previously held series 7, 66 and insurance license. Sitting for CFP in March 2012, and taking series 65, as well...

Looking forward to seeing what this forum has to offer.

Welcome Harley.  When do you plan on launching the RIA?

Harley, just out of curiousity, how do you plan to survive financially while you get the thing up and running and build a client base? I assume you currently have no potential clients?

Nope.  You missed all the fun in the last 3 years.

@ Wet_Blanket: I am planning for a 1st Qtr 2012 launch date. However, I may postpone to receive scoring from CFP exam.

@B24: I currently have a restaurant job, which provides a great lifestyle and flexibility. I have days free until 5pm and the money is good enough to support me while I get some traction. Correct, I have no clients.

@GreatPlans: I know! I took a leave of absence from ML in May of 2008 with the intention to travel for a year and return to work...well, by December of 2008 ML was BofA and we all know what happened then...in short, the timing couldn't have been better, and it couldn't have been worse...
