Looking forward to this forum. 20+ year vet for a major. 1M+ in t-12. Entertaining the idea of going indy as well and doing a good deal of due diligence this year.

Been looking at LPL, RJ Independent mostly. Open to other ideas/ channels as well. Seems like a lot of hassle though. Just taking my time.

Upper Midwest area. I've got clients all over the US, however. Roughly half my book is outside of my market on the coasts. Looking forward to hearing any thoughts/ ideas about transitions and firms worth looking into. Thanks!

My 40 is shit but my deadlift is breathtaking.
Interest in Indy is more about control and flexibility. Potentially better array of tools to help support clients, and creative control.

I've looked at LPL and talked to several FAs that operate under their umbrella as well as RJ's Independent channel. I'm set to visit RJ this Fall to learn more about their systems and support. Their model tends to appeal to me more than LPL and the name is strong in my market. I guess my biggest fear is the shift in workload and all of the "stuff" that I, and the other advisors who will join me as a team, will have to do that is outside of helping clients. I don't know what I don't know about those items. Maybe I'm making it a bigger issue than it actually is. My timeline is 12-24 months so I'm just taking my time to learn more.
