Hey everyone,

willy wonka checking in from the beautiful jersey shore area. I chose my screen name because I want to own the damn chocolate factory. Plus having a wonkavator wouldn't be bad for picking up chicks....lol!!!
I am an industry veteran 19 years in who has gone through a spell of bad luck for the past few years. Divorce, attorney rape of my money, 2008-09, move from my wirehouse to a smaller national firm that did not go well has left me basically starting from scratch. I am depressed, dejected and have thought about quitting. You bet! will I, no f...ing way! I love this business and it is time I reap the rewards to be had. This business is simple, but not easy.
I will be posting my 730 day war post under the prospecting section since I have committed for the next 730 days to prospect like I haven't since 1991 when I was brand new in the business. check out my post. WW

Wet, we are not all 80+ years old like Sportsfreak and need everything magnified. Big smile

Thanks for the welcome! Smile  I have been over on the Registered Rep Board for six months and haven't had this many replies over all six months! I owe a big thank you to B24 for saving me from the abyss.
The only golden ticket in the brokerage business is hard work and the ability to swallow your pride for awhile. In my humble opinion there is no quicker way to build a business than through cold calling. I know, it sucks....agreed! But you have the ability to contact and qualify so many more prospects through cold calling than any other way. To be truthful, I do not know if I can sustain the energy needed to complete my 730 day war plan, no doubt it will be tough but I must if I want to live the life I want and I deserve. It's only 730 days....easy!

I hope you don't have a culture shock when you start cold calling tomorrow compared to 17 years ago.

I have actually been kinda having a warmup period over the past few weeks to get my head in the game again. I have been making about 300 dials a day to residences but tomorrow I start calling businesses. I hope I don't have culture shock either as I have not called businesses in a long time.
It's only 730 days!

300 per day with a small book and calling residences is quite doable.  Calling residences is much quicker, nobody is putting you on hold, no auto attendant.

Willy, you'll enjoy newregrep's journey to success or failure thread as he can definitely commiserate with you on the joys of cold-calling.  i respect anyone's work ethic if they commit to cold-calling and follow through.  Personally, I'm far too lazy to make a living cold-calling so I count myself fortunate to (1) have started at a bank where I got at least some decent leads, (2) managed to leave with my hide intact and 85% of my recurring revenue and (3) be at the point in my career where my reputation and client referrals are providing me a steady stream of new business and a book that has sufficient critical mass that I could simply coast if I chose to.

Good luck, my friend...with persistence, all of us have the ability to get to where I am now and indeed, many have achieved far greater levels of success in far less time than this lazy turd.
