My name is Ashley. I've been with Edward Jones for about 10 years, and am level 7 production starting new, no assets. I was wondering if anyone here has experience with social media.

My experience with social media is that most of it isn't allowed, and what is has to be funneled through compliance so it comes out pretty bland.

My guess would be that Jones is even more restrictive.

I'm up to about 300 followers on my company FB page, mostly clients and their immediate family and friends. It costs something like $15 a month for the Socialware so compliance can monitor.

The legacy trainee I have said they're being taught to use social media for prospecting. I doorknocked my way until referrals and networking started paying off. But the trainee and a few others have said more and more business for them is coming from FB.

FB is tough outside of seminar events to really convert any business but does help establish your online brand. I'd concentrate more on Linkedin.

I have a LinkedIn account, and haven't logged in since I can't even remember when. My contacts there are all probably recruiters and salesmen. I wonder whether the time spent to build all this up is worth it. I've had clients and prospects ask whether I'm on Facebook, but have never had one ask about LInkedIn.

LinkedIn would be more for proactive recruiting. Adding connections who are searched by niches you served and personally reaching out to them. I have had most success with this method. Far more than that of Facebook as you can not be proactive and solicit their following you since it's a business page.

It wasn't a help at all the first few years. People wouldn't take me seriously. I started at 25, and looked maybe 18. Doorknocking was difficult at best. I had to reach out to veteran women advisors for best practices on all the crap women deal with that men don't.

Now it's easier, and I wouldn't be surprised if much of my new business is as least partly influenced by my appearance.

So if Tom Cruise is a level 10 Scientologist, what is a level 7 EdwardJonesologist? Similar/different?

He also always beats the market by at least 6%. He also was the lead singer of a very popular band. Did I mention he deadlifts 600lbs, and has a 450 bench?

Oh, so he's one of those people. I didn't see any members on the search with the name Windy.

On another note, for those of you creeps doing a search, Ashley is my middle name. The Joneslink directory and my business cards have my first name and the A. initial. I wasn't born yesterday. Been stalked, not going through that again.

Can you elaborate?
