For all we know, it was DAD that did it. She did describe him as a 'sociopath'... which would further reinforce my recommendation of leaving and taking greater charge of her own life.

It's frightening to think she may be right when she suggested the rape statistics. I often think the same, though I hope it's not true.
She privately emailed me asking whether she should return. I told her not to and to just stay away. Don't go navigating a mine field. You are asking for trouble. |

I have a friend who is a former Navy SEAL who has made it his "retirement job" to stop campus sexual assault.
On campuses, it's actually 1 in 5 women experience rape, and 1 in 16 men. Men are estimated to be underreported by quite a bit. Outside of that, the stats are about 11.2%, which is close to the 1 in 9 (for women). When this analysis was done in the military, men were found to experience approximately the same level of sexual assault as women. That said, all of these depend upon the definition of sexual assault. In some cases, sexual assault can mean catcalling, touching someone's shoulder from behind (surprising them). Physical sexual assault itself has wide-ranging definitions. The research methods vary wildly. |

You come on to a forum, get a feel for it and have to see this isn't a warm and cuddly place.. And you throw something out about being stalked, and you're upset because I asked you about it? What the hell did you expect? Suck it up, this isn't a place where you'll get sympathy. Or a place where a bunch of white knights will come to your rescue.

Holy balls. I can't decide if I regret reading this or if it's the joke of the day. It all depends on what the definition of is is.
Rape Culture. Carrying protection doesn't help. I'm a giant of a man in above average shape with significant martial arts training. I also own multiple guns including ARs. Still, I have been raped nearly a dozen times by multiple women. Many of my friends have also been raped by women. Some of us have been raped by the same woman. It's an epidemic. True story. But What I'm most ashamed of is that I enjoyed it. |
