What is FACD program? Is it service only or do you have your own clients?

No one really knows what it is and that's the honest truth. It was billed to me as something extra for people who have graduate degrees, but after being in the program I think it's just for younger folks. Every person in charge of it seems to have a different idea of what it is. 

Basically, we get a few more months of "free" prospecting before we get put on standards and we spend a lot of classroom time learning the products and how to build portfolios. We get a few of the classes they only give to advisers who are level 5+ so it has it's usefulness. If you get lucky and the FA they pair you with is cool it's a sweet gig because they will kick you the clients they don't want to mess with, which is generally anyone under 250k if you're a level 8+. Most people aren't lucky though and get paired with level 3's who try to poach every good prospect you bring in

Jones is a company and all of them have their pros and cons. I'm young, I'm idealistic, and my goal is to eventually own my own shop. If EJ is the path for me to do that I'll be more than happy to toe the company line for as long as I need to. Fact of the matter is I have a ton of useless book knowledge and very little practical experience in this field, and I need to get my hands dirty, get the stupid rookie mistakes out of my way, and build my book. Once I do that I can start thinking about my exit strategy, but that is a long long ways off

Cold - if I were you I would just be patient. I know that is hard but Jones isn't a bad place and as long as you are surviving financially, which I assume you are without kids and another income, Id stay put. Unless you can go Indy, every other place in the middle is equal to or worse than Jones. This industry is a shitshow.

Coldjumper - are you still with us? So I am guessing you moved forward in the Jones process by now, but WTH did they have you prospecting for during all those extra months? "When I grow up and become an FA, will you do business with me?" That is not aimed at you, just wondering what they expected your pitch to be, while they artificially "held" your license.

He gave me enough info to call some friends in the home office who run the FACD program and I got him fired.  He was leaving anyway, so I just saved the firm and my LP profit a little time and money.  

It's amazing what info people will give up on an internet forum.

I hear the pay for that is better than the new asset bonus pay for new FAs.
