Fajitas (skirt steaks) are still fucking insane. Are you trying to say the very real inflation we had wasn’t real, or that it won’t go up too bad in the future?  Housing prices here are still up 20-40% YoY.  Just admit it’s fucked up.

I am trying to say that we have inflation, but we always have inflation. The question is "do we have runaway inflation" and the answer appears to be we don't. Prices are always going to go up.

Just admit we’re having supply chain issues as the economy and demand comes back to life. The sky isn’t falling, Fails. Get a grip.

AFAICT year over year housing pricing is up 18%. That’s a big number attributable to home prices climbing over low new construction (supply chain, again) and low mortgage rates. Who knows if prices will stay this high, but I suspect if they drop that panic will be forgotten as quickly as the lumber price panic was.

Define runaway inflation when the prior 10 yr number was what? 1.7%  Is doubling that runaway? or just "normal"

Over what time period?  One year? Two years?

The standard deviation for CPI is precisely 1.7%. So doubling would only be one standard deviation. I would say that is normal oscillation.

1.7 is too low a bar and it’s looking over too short a timeline.

Yeah, 30 year mean is 2.33% (as of 7/31/21) and standard deviation is 1.7%. I would say if inflation is lower than 5.7% it's within normal fluctuations.

Keep panicking. You'll be right eventually. LOL

The inflation side of this argument has been won. It’s here, it’s real and it’s kicking peoples asses right now.

Exactly and it was supposed to be over this year according the the AH Brain(I'don't)Trust.

They were wrong again. Even the Fed has to walk about their BS transitory comments.

That's cute. "Kicking people's asses". LOL

This is what a loss of perspective, because you've never actually seen inflation or rising interest rates for that matter, will do to you.

Remember, no one said there was no "inflation". The debate was the cause, severity and length of time it might exist. The Fed said exactly what we non-panicking types have said from day one. It's largely supply chain related and won't be outside historic norms (see Mo's post about 5%ish increases).

Who told you "inflation" and supply chain issues would be resolved "this year"? That would mean it would appear and disappear within 10 months or so.

You don’t think inflation is hurting lower income people who live paycheck to paycheck? Personally I don’t care about increases on everyday things, but I bet a lot of people do when their grocery bill is up 10% or more in a year.

It’s sad how many of us saw this coming 12 and 18 months ago, but the Fed did as recently as June.

I don't know who's grocery bill is up 10% when food inflation the last 12 months has been 3.7%.

The Fed is making our argument, not yours. BTW, you saw "inflation" as the economy was shedding millions of jobs 12-18 months ago?
