i am an econ student graduating this year hoping to get into Merrill Lynch FA training program. Already have my 63,65,66, life and annuity, and working on CFP education courses. Just researching and trying to learn as much as possible now. thanks |

I know that I overlapped with the 66 and 65, 63, but want as much on my resume as possible so I can be a more attractive candidate for hiring. After the 63 and 65 there weren't any others I could do without sponsorship, so I went ahead and did the 66.

I was under the impression that you could take it, but it wouldn't go into effect until you pass the 7. Anybody know for sure?

No, you can take the test, but can't do jack shit with it until you pass the 7. You can't use it in lieu of a 65 unless you pass the 7.
