I am in my 10th year in the industry and own an independent financial-planning firm in Ohio. I started in the industry while i was still in college through an internship, and after working for a "national name-brand" financial services company for 6 years I put down the "kool-aid" and went independent by starting my own firm. Toughest decision of my life at the time.....in hindsight best decision I've ever made. I have been very active on another online forum of advisors for about 5 years....I just happened to find this one tonight. I look forward to reading and contributing. |

What firm were you with? What board are you from? This site is essentially a spinoff of the old registered rep forum but has grown to be far more active than that forum ever was with even more info as time goes on. Welcome! |

Not Edward Jones.....think Mutual life insurance company. I was lucky to be a part of regional office that housed 3 advisors that each had around 250mill of AUM. These guys were not doing any VA's either. This created a culture of real planning where I learned a ton in my six years. I venture to say I would not be where I am today if I would have been housed in any other office in the country with this company. Ultimately, this office became a prototype of what the company is trying to change into today. |
