Requires 5 years all in although if the transition goes well you will get paid twice on the book plus commissions along the way and partnership eligibility. For a retiring advisor its a no brainer. At your level if you could bring it all you would be looking at some nice checks (up to 80bps on the first 50 million transitioned and 100bps on the next 25 or so you can bring and that's including new clients you bring over for the first 2 years, a 40% + bonuses and benefits payout with no strings) and a salary guarantee during transition of whatever your gross income is at finet. If you are looking for a quick out though, I'd ask one of the heavy hitter indy or RIA guys here if they will just buy straight up if you are in their area.
