Just found this site, so first post here. Been a CFP for a few years now (paid for while working the phones for Fido). Followed Kitces for most of that time, and too many advisor and personal finance/FIRE podcasts, behavioral finance/financial therapy, etc. Excited to finally have the green light to solicit (in three states anyway, ha) The firm I'm with is $300-500K AUM, dual registered with a regional B/D. I'm in a cushy situation earning a paraplanner salary while my advisor income grows. I could slot in as a service advisor and do fine, except for the part where I die of boredom. Really want to build around some kind of niche or brand. Equity comp is fun and obviously lucrative, but corporate career folks are... depressing (exception would be someone looking to do something -anything- besides buying a bunch of stuff, retiring to Florida, and dying). Thinking about small business owners or even farmers. Also open to seeing what develops naturally.
Had fun lurking through a few threads to feel out the crowd. Two things missing in my life right now is assholes and clients. Confident this forum can help with one of those. The other is up to me.

Any chance you're in Kentucky?

Just starting, so no AUM. Lead advisor is sending a few clients my way.
Loaded funds aren't my cup of tea. Want to focus on planning and AUM, sell insurance/annuities when needed.
