Hello gentlemen,

I'm Lazarus. Currently part of a $400M RIA, currently managing $80M. I'm a non-partner and interested if my compensation is competitive based on the experience of others. Look forward to being a part of this civil community.

What's your comp?

Format is: Base Salary + 20% of advisory fees + annual bonus.

Current YTD: $60k base + $133k advisory + annual bonus (not paid yet, best guess $15k) Assume advisory fees to the firm of ~90bps of assets.

So net ~30% of revenue? Not bad if the clients were handed to you or if they fronted the cost for marketing.

Firm pays for marketing. No handed clients, I close myself. I generally don't have to deal with compliance but we are a small firm so there are areas of "running the business" that I am involved in. My goal is partnership but that is another discussion.

Sounds like we’re not too far apart. I get 35bps but I get an admin, trading team, planning team, tax and estate.

Chips,

What do the "tax and estate" team do? Do they prepare returns? Does the estate team review estate docs?

Yes to all. Both can consult and do projections for any client. Tax estate doc prep are a little extra. $750 for tax and 1750 for basic estate.
