Licensed and EDJ here.  Created an account months ago, but haven't posted and I guess the rules have changed - so here's the post.

Yep.  We want everyone to contribute a little that way it's more "community-like".

Glad to have you posting.

Also a refugee--started summer 08 as a scratch new-new.  No need to guess how well that worked out, but can't even spell "kwyt."

Rooster - what type of firm did you move to?

I moved to a small regional.  I teamed up with an experienced advisor who had recently taken over an old book; I worked the bottom of the book, etc.  It's worked out for both of us.  We keep some accounts under our own advisor codes, but 99%of the accounts are on the team id.  We have a division of labor that works out pretty well.  I do some prospecting, supervise our assistant, cover the service work, and make sure we are compliant; he prospects and drags in the big clients.  We cover annual reviews jointly, as well as tag teaming regular client contact.  Not always perfect, but it works.

I posted my resume on Brokerhunter.  This company's recruiter was among several who responded.  Initially I was put off, but agreed to meet with the guy I'm teamed up with. We hit it off and I decided to give this company a go.  I probably would not have signed up if I were going to be going solo here. FWIW I don't have a Jones grudge.  They trained me well, and it was a great place to start (even though the start was brief).
