Yoroshiku Onegaishimasu

Aside from my pension, I have a safety net in a wife who makes good money in the medical industry. Before you ask, YES- she's beautiful, and NO- I won't send pictures of her to anyone. My biggest motivation for entering this industry is to help people secure their future financially. I'm not looking to get rich. I measure quality of life in time spent with my family and on the golf course/hiking/eating good food and drinking good beer. 

I look forward to learning from everyone here.

I speak a little, but not much. I was fortunate enough to have spent some time there throughout my career. Awesome place.

Absolutely not. If I enjoy the job I'll definitely succeed, which to me means to work 3-4 days a week and make about $60-80k a year to supplement my pension. That gives me plenty of time to be with my kids as they grow up and pursue an outside hobby or two, including volunteering in the community. I was an incredibly hard charger throughout my very successful military career, but family suffered dramatically. Time to tip the scales in the other direction. 

I'll know within a year or so whether or not I'll enjoy the job. If not, I'll simply tell my Dad it's not for me and to sell the rest of his business to someone else. To me, the only failure would be to neglect my family any more than I already have. 

The first thing I did when given access to the full forum yesterday was to read Wolf's 500 day war thread. All 25 pages. Absolutely incredible what he's accomplished in such a short time, and I know he'll build a huge practice and be wildly successful. I have tons of respect for him, and everyone else that works so hard to attain their lofty goals. My lofty goals have already been achieved (except becoming a scratch golfer, but I'm close) and no longer include working 70+ hours a week or trying to make $500k a year. I want to provide excellent service and advisement to the few clients that I choose to take. If that's what you label as "failing spectacularly", then yes, I will.

I'm simply here to learn more about the business from professionals like you, and from what I've seen so far I think this will be an awesome resource. I had reservations about being honest with you guys about my situation in fear of being labeled lazy (which I am certainly not). But to be honest, I'm comfortable with who I am and what I'm doing. If anyone has a problem with that, especially someone who doesn't know me, I gives a fuck.
